Bruce's Dream, a retired racehorse, learns to ride again as a therapy horse for nonverbal teenagers on the autism spectrum.
The Square Peg Foundation is an equine therapy center based in Half Moon Bay, California. Made within the Stanford MFA Documentary program, co-director Azza Cohen and I set out to create a film that leaned into Square Peg’s philosophy of communal healing and listening to the needs of others. The result is a quiet meditation on the gentle perceptiveness and daily life of a retired racehorse, Bruce’s Dream.
